Setting up Ustream on my android phone was as easy as downloading the application from the market, but when i tried to stream live video from my laptop in Ubuntu 9.10 I didnt see any video or audio on the broadcast (see attached photo). It took a bit of googling but i found the solution and it was an easy fix.
By default Adobe denies websites from accessing your webcam and microphone so that you dont accidentally send embarrassing videos to youtube or the like. While they used to prompt you if the site requests controls it seems something is rotten in the current state of Denmark.
Configuring your screens in ubuntu for presentations or hooking up to a docking station or LCD Tv have always been labor intensive operations that required lots of clicking and knowledge of resolutions.
Disper is a tool used to automate alot of the configuration but lacks the ability to remember previous states or toggle between them gracefully.
If you have ever installed linux as a dual-boot on your computer you know that the GRUB bootloader conveniently places an option to boot back into Windows so that you can run them side by side with 0 effect on eachother (save a little hard drive space).
However, when you install Windows Microsoft assumes that you are fixing a "bug" on your computer. That "bug" is the existence of linux as a bootable option. It conveniently removes GRUB as your boot loader and doesn't replace it with an option to return to linux if you care to do so anytime you reboot.
